LR CC - Paddy CC

Now that LR CC is finally out, I am starting to update Paddy. Bad news is that this will be a slow process as I am very much in demand in my day job and for the family.

The good news is that the LR control scheme is close to the old one. I did some forensic science during the week, updated the Paddy source codes for the renames of control schemes last night, and I got some basics working - for instance, the main sliders! Yeah!

The bad news is that they didn't change the dynamic control scheme, so the startup for the beta version will still be awkward.

Here is the path forward

  • Get a Beta version out that has the same functionality as we had for LR 5 (with no registration)
  • Set up a new discussion board - the old is broken
  • Gather feedback and improve, and in parallel work on a new startup scheme
  • Set up new Webpage
  • Update User guide

Now, I have LR CC. I am unlikely to buy the stand alone in addition, so I will just hope that Paddy will work for it

I was wondering if the current Paddy version can be used with LR CC.
    Thank you!

  4. Let's set up some kind of a PADDY CC fund / kickstarter campaign and get this thing going. I just installed logitech g13 only to realize I won't be able to use it on LR6. Do we have approximate time frame for release?

    1. Totally agree! I have no problem to pay in advance for this proven Paddy software. My new G13 is also sitting idling...

  5. It'd be great if there was a real campaign to support development here. I've only JUST become aware of the midi interface "hack" for LR in the last 4-5 days, but I'm also disappointed about the latest LR 6/CC not having robust support with Paddy :( As a wedding photographer in the height of wedding season I was hoping to give this ago and I got the bcf 2000, but I've since realized support is not quite there yet.

I think there's a 2nd or 3rd wave of interest in this kind of editing , and I'm curious whether you noticed a spike of web traffic or inquiries to reflect that. It seems there are one or two groups bringing this back to the forefront this year. I'd love to learn about any updates in development as I'm very much anticipatory of using this tool. Appreciate your effort, mate!

I'd happily donate the value of Lightroom to see this work soon. I'd love for you to take that promise to the bank :-)

  6. Any news on an update to make Paddy work in LR CC? Your initial post is now over 7 months old and the last Paddy release is still form 2013. I would really appreciate if I could use Paddy again.

  10. So if I got it right. Paddy (original) is dead. Instead we have MIDI2LR, nothing else? Is there anything with keyboard mapping capability? :) But do not get me wrong, that I wouldn't be greatful for M2L :) it is great, I am geeking out with it all day now :D thanks

    1. VSCO Keys went Open Source. We use it to map our G13 Keyboards...

  11. Hello,

what is exactly the incompatible part with LR6? I managed to install and run Paddy on LR6. I can see the menus, and fully configurate it. It even connects with my TouchOSC device and recieves the commands (the floating messages with "Exposure: xx" shows up, but there is no movement in the sliders itself and the image is not changing either.

Since I have never used Paddy before, I cannot distinguish, if it is due to my incorrect setup of Paddy or the LR 6 incompatibility manifests as inability to control while Paddy UI is functional.

    Thanks :).
